Want to get your organisation Cyber Essentials certified but don’t know where to start? At Moremicro, we support organisations working towards certification for the first time, as well as those approaching their recertification date.
We’ve outlined the two levels of certification below. Which one you choose will depend on the level of assurance your organisation needs. Organisations can go through the certification process themselves, or they can work with an external partner to manage the whole process for them.
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed scheme that helps you protect your organisation against common cyber threats.
Completed as a self-assessment, Cyber Essentials certification ensures that you are protected against a wide range of serious cyber threats. This is vital because being vulnerable to basic threats makes you a target for cyber criminals.
The majority of cyber criminals look for targets that do not have Cyber Essentials technical controls in place. A Cyber Essentials certificate gives you peace of mind that your defences will protect you against the vast majority of common cyber attacks.
Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials Plus continues to follow the same approach as Cyber Essentials. The level of security measures you need to have in place is the same for both, but Cyber Essentials Plus includes a hands-on technical verification.
Your Cyber Essentials Plus assessor will check and assess what anti-virus, anti-malware, software and network measures you have in place. This can involve a visit to your office(s), but assessments can be carried out remotely.
Cyber Essentials Plus must be completed within three months of your Cyber Essentials Basic certification.
